Aniimo is built around finding creatures, catching them with Aniipods, and Twining to use their abilities. Learn the basics before your first adventure.
Before you set out
Choose your platform and check its store listing before installing. PC and console launches are announced for September 16, 2026; mobile follows on September 23. Some regional stores display September 15 for PC or console. The base game is free to play, so an optional preorder pack is not the game’s entry price.
01 · Meet and catch your companions
Aniipods are the tools used to catch Aniimo. The official overview also describes traps and timing as parts of catching. The creatures you encounter can vary with the surroundings, weather and time of day.
Treat exploration as part of collecting: a place you have already visited may be worth returning to under different conditions.
02 · See the world through Twining
Twining lets you become an Aniimo you have collected. Its abilities can help with movement, combat and puzzles, making your companions part of how you travel through Idyll.
For example, the official Emberpup entry describes Hustle as a movement-speed ability that uses stamina. Try different companions to find abilities that suit your route.
03 · Explore, then make yourself at home
The world supports different ways of travelling, including gliding, diving and burrowing. Check what your current companion can do when a route or puzzle seems out of reach.
The official overview also introduces an RV and Homeland activities. These offer a quieter part of the adventure alongside collecting and battling.
A note on older beta guides
The September 3 developer letter says the Rune system has been removed for launch. Older videos that recommend Rune upgrades describe a previous version. The same letter changes the Irisalis encounter, so follow the new design rather than an old random-catching loop.
